If students are covering the Civil War in social studies, theyre reading The Red Badge of Courage or some other period literat

5、ure in English class. In science, they study the viruses and bacteria that caused many deaths in the war.Team teaching isnt unusual. About 77 percent of middle schools now employ some form of it, says John Lounsbury, consulting editor for the National Middle School Association. But most schools use

6、four or five person teams, which Gaul tried before considering twoperson teams more effective. Gaul supports the team concept by “looping” classes (跟班) so that the same two teachers stick with the same teens through seventh and eighth grades. Combining teams and looping creates an extremely strong b

7、ond between teacher and student. “It also”, says teacher Beth Ahlholm, “allows us to build an excellent relationship with parents.”Ahlholm and teammate Madelon Kelly are fully aware how many glazed looks they see in the classroom, but they know 72 percent of their eighthgraders met Maines reading st

And its important to recognize the presence of lead in childrens bodies because lead is very harmful.Children have the tendency to go around and put things in their mouths like paint peelings. It has also been found that children born in poor families have higher chances of getting exposed to lead.Some of the common symptoms of lead poisoning in children are headaches, stomach pains, hair loss, muscle weakness, and weight loss, etc.Lead poisoning can

14、have severe effects and can lead to heart diseases, kidney diseases and neurological(神经系统的) problems. It can also result in mental dullness and a low IQ level. There have been cases where lead poisoning proved to be terminal for children.Its difficult to easily recognize whether a child is affected

15、by lead poisoning, as the symptoms of this disease can occur due to some other medical problems. Therefore, children under the age of 6 should regularly be checked to know the level of lead in their blood through blood tests. Its possible to completely cure a child with lead poisoning through treatm
