4、e, Mr Harrison kept the Bentley. He said: How many people still have their first car these days when everything is so disposable? But it is a real eye-catcher. It has something that modern cars just dont have - style and character. I still drive it most days, even though it only does about 15 miles

5、to the gallon! Petrol was just six shillings (30p) a gallon when Mr Harrison bought the Bentley, which had a top speed of 120mph. He has spent thousands of pounds on repairs over the years but has kept the bodywork in good condition himself, hand-painting the underneath and spraying the black panels

6、 of the bodywork. For decades the Bentley was a regular sight on the roads near Mr Harrisons home in Hampton Court, Surrey. He now uses it as a runaround after retiring to Whitney-on-Wye, Herefordshire. Mrs Harrison, 71, said: “It was a nuisance(累赘) keeping it in tip-top order with me helping out wi

The great days of Hollywood have become legendary: famous stars enjoyed fame, wealth and adulation on an unprecedented scale. By todays standards, the excesses of Hollywood do not seem quite so spe

17、ctacular. A single gramophone record nowadays may earn much more in royalties than the films of the past ever did. The competition for the title Top of the Pops is fierce, but the rewards are truly colossal.It is only right that the stars should be paid in this way. Dont the top men in industry earn

18、 enormous salaries for the services they perform to their companies and their countries? Pop stars earn vast sums in foreign currency often more than large industrial concerns and the taxman can only be grateful fro their massive annual contributions to the exchequer. So who would begrudge them thei

19、r rewards?Its all very well for people in humdrum jobs to moan about the successes and rewards of others. People who make envious remarks should remember that the most famous stars represent only the tip of the iceberg. For every famous star, there are hundreds of others struggling to earn a living.
