As you can see, the families living here are living in very poor conditions. There is no running water and no electricity in th

5、is village. Water has to be collected from the river 10 minutes walk away. This may seem near but when you need water for many things, walking 10 minutes is a long time. The water then needs to be boiled before it can be used. The result of not boiling the water is illness. As you can see, the villa

6、gers houses are built of wood and are not very strong. This is because they have no money and cannot get hold of any materials. The people have very few things like clothes or furniture because they have no money and they are a long way from the nearest town. There is a bus but you have to walk six

7、kilometers to get to the nearest road.As I said earlier, there is no electricity in this village, so when it is dark, the only light comes from the small fires that the family cooks over. Unfortunately, much of the forest around the village has been cut down for firewood and so the villagers have to

8、 walk further and further away from the village to get wood. This also means that water may not be boiled for long enough as there is very little wood. 11、as the villagers have no money for equipment. It is difficult to raise animals because of the small amount of land and water available. Because of this and the lack of fresh water, many of the children have poor diets. A common problem is that they de not eat enough meat to get the amount of protein

12、 that they need. As a result, they do not grow properly and cannot concentrate on learning. Another problem is that many of the childrens parents have died because of AIDS. This means that the grandparents have to bring up the children. That is very difficult because they are already old and poor.An
