11、headmaster(前任校长)Though a little suspicious this time 这是一个省略了主语和连系动词的让步状语从句.通常,如果从句的主语与主句的相同而谓语带系动词be,则主语+be可省略(原因状语从句例外):她上大学时写了一部小说。While at college,she wrote a novel.他的举止就像一定会成功一样。(方式)He acted as if certain of success.如果可能的话,请在今晚以前告诉我。(条件)If possible,please let me know by this evening.他虽然疲惫,但还是很晚才

13、st his temper.无论发生什么事都要记着保持冷静。Whatever happens,remember to keep your temper.temper 与 mood 我爷爷容易生气。My grandfather has a temper.老板今天脾气不好。The boss is in a temper today.我姐姐性情平和/脾气急躁。My sister is of a calm/quick temper.temper 与 mood(2)temper指“心情”、“情绪”时,与mood同 那天上午,乔治心情好。That morning George was in a good

14、mood/temper.但bad mood与bad temper稍有区别:当他脾气不好时,他很容易生气。但当他心情不好时,他喜欢独自坐着。When he is in a bad temper,he gets angry easily.But when he is in a bad mood,he likes to sit alone.temper 与 mood(3)mood可以表示“有意/想要(做某事)”,temper则不可以:当时我没有心情(不想)说话。At that time I was not in the mood for talking/to talk.尽管杰里米以绝妙的幽默感著称,

29、表示“反对”、“不喜欢”、“不赞成:他们提出异议,说这本书对他们来说太难了。They objected that the book was too difficult for them.Grammarit作先行宾语 Review:it可以作虚主语(Its 9 oclock.)还可以作先行主语(Its a pleasure to be here.)用于强调句:It was George who phoned Jack last night.(是乔治昨晚给杰克打了电话)it作先行宾语 在主语+动词+宾语+宾语补足语这个句型中 常用it作先行宾语,真正的宾语为后面的动词不定式或从句:People a

30、re going to find it difficult to get to work.人们会感到上班有困难。(to get to work为find的真正宾语)除find外,常用于这种结构的动词还有think,consider,feel,make,keep等:他以为搞到票很容易。He thought it easy to get the tickets.他们认为这项工作不可能在3天之内完成。They consider it impossible to finish the work in three days.她觉得他们把病人独自留在医院是不对的。She felt it wrong tha
