13、r Arthur Conan DoyleSection I Arthur Conan Doyle was born in 1859 in Scotland. His family faced many difficulties but it is thought that he inherited a love of literature from his mother, who was a great storyteller. After school, he studied medicine. It was during this time that he began writing sh

On becoming a doctor, though, he was not very successful so he used his time while he was waiting for patients to compose short stories and novels. By 1893, however, Conan Doyle wanted to spend more time writing historical novels so he decided to have Holmes killed in what was to be his last adventure, “The Final Problem”.Section III Conan Doyles readers were horrified when their favorite character died and they protested loudly. 17、n the days before television, people had come to rely on the Sherlock Holmes stories as a form of entertainment and each new story was eagerly looked forward to, many of them appearing in the monthly Strand magazine.
