The story happened thousands of years ago.3. hardly 的用法 Hardly是否定副词，表示“几乎不，简直不”，相当于almost not，含有否定的意义，故在句中不能另加否定词。不要将 hardly误认为是由 hard+ -ly构成的副词。此外， hardly位于句首时，要用倒装语序。如：I hardly know what to say.
