1、Unit 3 CelebrationsLesson 3 Memories of Christmas教学设计:本节课是高中英语第一册Unit 3 Celebrations的第三课Memories of Christmas,课型是阅读课,介绍了一个关于圣诞节的故事。主要内容是讲述作者为何喜欢圣诞节,回忆和Granny一起度过圣诞节的欢乐时光以及表达对Granny的思念之情。通过本节课的学习,让学生了解圣诞节在西方文化中的意义,从而使学生更多地更深入了解西方文化,进而适当地将中西文化结合;同时也希望通过本课的学习,让学生学会如何表达与圣诞节相关的话题。语技能目标:学生能够借助关键词,在理解文章大意的

2、基础上,找出段落主题句,完成读前问题;用所学的词汇和语言的对课文进行复述。知识目标:能够正确运用以下单词和短语:mess, slightly, excitement, appear, s affair, swallow, fall off, pass away, come to mind等;复习被动语态,能熟练应用被动语态以及能灵活使用相关动词词组。情感态度目标:热爱和尊重不同民族的文化,在新环境中进一步树立准确的语言学习观。重难点:(1)如何使用地道的英语介绍西方圣诞节;(2)正确理解并运用被动语态和动词词组。(3)了解西方圣诞节的意义以及对中西方文化做出对比。Step 1:Activate

3、 and ShareWhat do people in the West do to celebrate Christmas?Use the pictures and phrases to help you.(1) Read aloud the title of the lesson.Check that studentsunderstand the meanings of memories and Christmas.Discuss what they know about the holiday and how it is celebrated locally and around the

4、 world.(2) Explain that students will be reading a story about what a writer remembers about her grandmother.Read the rubric and then readthe phrases in the box.Clarify the meaning of any unknown terms.Ask students to answer the question in the rubric.(3) Allow students time to discuss the prompt wi

5、th a partner or in small groups.Step 2:Read and Explore The following is a memory of a woman about Christmas.Read the story and find out why it was such a memorable Christmas to her.(1) Read the rubric to students. Point out that the rubric states their reason for reading. Elicit that they are to fi

6、nd out why the writer thinks of her grandma every Christmas.Ask students to skim the story to find keywords related to Christmas, such as presents, Father Christmas, snow, decorations, and sugar biscuits.(2) Allow students time to read the story independently, or call on volunteers to read sentences

7、 aloud.Remind students of their reason for reading and ask them to state their reasons why. Step 3:Underline the writers memories of her grandma and tell your partner.(1) Ask students what kind of events the writer mentioned in the story. Elicit that the writer mentions minor details. Ask students t

8、o decide whether the details they recall are minor or major.(2) Read the rubric to students and emphasize that they should find major details.(3) Encourage students to discuss the details that they found and talk about how they are important to the story. Discuss answers as a class.Step 4:(1) Read t

9、he story again.When did these activities happen? Complete the timeline.Then talk about what happened based on the timeline. Read the Skill Builder and explain the concept of sequencing. Read the rubric and introduce the diagram. This diagram shows howthe passage is sequenced. Let read the passage on
