1、Period ThreeGrammar & Writing一、概述1动词ing形式作状语时,和句子主语应有逻辑上的主谓关系,即动词ing形式的逻辑主语应与句子的主语保持一致。2动词ing形式在意义上可表示时间、原因、方式、伴随、条件、结果等,这时它相当于一个状语从句。3动词ing形式位置比较灵活,可以置于句首、句中或句末,有时用逗号分开,有时也不用。一般来说,用作原因、条件时,常位于句首;用作方式、结果、伴随状语时,常位于句末。4独立成分作状语。 有些动词ing形式短语,其形式的选择不受上下文的影响,称作独立成分;还有一些动词ing形式的主语与句子主语不一致时,我们可以用ing形式的独立主格结

2、构。独立主格结构可以在句中作时间状语、条件状语、原因状语、伴随状语等。二、基本用法1用作时间状语时相当于when或while引导的从句。Turning around(When she turned around),she saw an ambulance driving up.她转过身,看见一辆救护车开了过来。特别提示如果要强调分词短语所表示的动作与谓语动词所表示的动作同时发生,分词短语前可用when或while等连词。While working in the factory(While I was working in the factory),I learnt a lot from the
