1、Countries from around the world will gather together Tuesday in Cape Town, South Africa for a series of health research meetings.China will send a delegation there, led by vice Health Minister Liu Qian.Nate Schlabach has more.Forum 2012 will put the focus on new developments in the health research f
2、ield, with the theme Beyond Aid, which says Research and Innovation are the key drivers for Health, Equity and Development.The director of the forum organizer, Professor Carel IJsselmuiden, says the relationship around the globe is changing between emerging economies and high income countries.We are
3、 now entering a new world, in which the capacity of countries that were previously seen in the last three decades to be recipients of aid, if you want, the welfare that high income countries had to give to those countries are slowly starting to take over. Much of that is driven through business and
4、entrepreneurship on the macroeconomic side but underneath there is lots of science, technology and innovation and that is the message we want to bring across.Professor Carel IJsselmuiden adds the goal of the forum is to establish a better health infrastructure in low-to-middle income countries.And a
5、s a developing country itself, IJsselmuiden believes China will play a key role in the health industry in years to come.We havent really seen how China is flexing its muscles yet in global health. I think thats going to come in the next ten years. The forum is very important to meet the people. Also
6、 people from elsewhere to meet some of those role players out of China and maybe strike up partnerships or deals for business or for academic or government collaboration.Professor Sun Xueli, a Chinese delegation member agrees.We have more of a chance to communicate with other countries and collect i
7、nformation. On the other hand we can give our ideas to the global community on health.
