1、英语翻议讲解:这里是VOA特别英语农业报道。上周我们的话题是非法捕鱼。现在,我们将报道两个案例,鱼类既是受害者又是侵犯者。第一个案例涉及两种亚洲鲤鱼:大头鱼和银色鲤鱼。他们最多可以生长到超过一米,体重高达45千克。他们会吃掉其他鱼类赖以生存的大量浮游生物。银色鲤鱼可以跳的很高,甚至袭击划船者。上世纪70年代,亚洲鲤鱼作为一个解决方案被引入美国。他们被引入是为了食用海藻和其他微生物。它们作为清洁者被投放在密西西比河沿岸的渔场和废水处理系统。但是现在,这些鱼类向北方的五大湖区域游动。他们正前往几年前修建的连接密西西比和密歇根湖的系统。鲤鱼的入侵会造成环境和经济双方面的危险。这种破坏性的鲤鱼会在五大

7、oth后的名词前可有定冠词、指示代词或物主代词作修饰限定,也可没有;both of后的名词前却一定要有定冠词、指示代词或物主代词作修饰限定。如:可以说both(the these,her) children;也可以说both of the(these,her)children;但一般不说both of children。Both of后可接人称代词宾格,both后则不可;但人称代词宾格后可接both。可以说both of us(you,them),一般不说both us(you,them),但可以说us(you,them)both。二、Both与动词连用时,大多数放在系动词be之后,其它动词之

8、前。如:His parents are both workers.They both enjoy reading.若句中谓语动词包含情态动词或助动词时,both大多放在第一个情态动词或助动词之后。如:The bridges must both be built this year.两座桥都必须在今年修建。kate and Mary have both gone to English.凯特和玛丽都去了英国。三、Both可与and构成并列连词,连接两个性质相同并在句中作相同成分的并行结构。如:Both he and his brother are good at English.(连接两个主语)S

9、he can both dance and sing.(连接两个谓语动词)Mary is both kind and beautiful.(连接两个表语)四、含both的句子变为否定时,是将both改为neither。如:当肯定句为Both of the boys are clever.(两个男孩都聪明)时,否定句当为Neither of the boys are clever.(两个男孩都不聪明)。Both后接复数名词,neither后接单数名词,动词的人称和数也要随之变化。若把句子变为Both of the boys are not clever,则是不完全否定。意思是:并不是两个男孩都聪

10、明(一个聪明一个愚笨)。五、含bothand的句子变为否定句时,将bothand改为neithernor.,连接的两个部分若是名词,可以是单数,也可以是复数。如:I know both the man and the woman.我既认识那男子,也认识那妇女。2.The underwater barrier is meant to shock the carp into turning back. is meant to为了,打算例句:Where were you meant to is guarding? 你打算防守哪里? 3.The state wants to remove millio

There are calls in Congress for emergency action. Officials could close shipping conn

17、ections between Lake Michigan and the upper Mississippi River system. But there are no decisions yet.So that is the situation in the Midwest. Farther west, the problem is with common carp. Officials in Utah want to remove around three-fourths of the carp from Utah Lake. The lake, near the city of Pr

18、ovo, is the largest natural body of freshwater in the state.The state wants to remove millions of carp to protect an endangered species native only to Utah Lake, the June sucker fish. The carp eat plants that the suckers use as hiding places.Carp were first put into the lake in the eighteen eighties

Now there are so many, experts say up to twenty metric tons a day could be removed with nets over a period of several years.But officials are fishing for ideas about what to do with all those fish, which could get pretty smelly.
