To test whether the students have grasped the important and difficult language points they learned in the last period, the teacher should first offer them some revision exercises. The pattern “It is. . . that/who. .

2、 . ” is a bit difficult, so special exercises should be designed.This teaching period mainly deals with grammar and speaking. Firstly, the teacher can enjoy with the students the song “Im babysitting on Thursday to ”present the Present Continuous Tense. The students are expected to make it clear tha

3、t the Present Continuous Tense may be used to denote an action that can be pre-planned or prearranged instead of the future indefinite in colloquial English. But please note that, not all verbs can be used in the “-ing” form to express future actions. Such verbs as come, go, leave, fly, walk, ride,

4、drive, stay, meet, die, see, have, arrive, etc. are mainly used in the “-ing” form to express future actions. Then do the exercises in Discovering useful structures on Page 21 and more for students to master this usage. Later on, ask them to make dialogues in pairs according to supposed situations.

5、This can help the students connect grammar rules with proper language forms so as to make grammar rules less abstract.
