5、匠，他用了八、九年时间，创制了一套胶泥活字，发明了活字印刷。活字是选用细腻的胶泥，制成一个个小型方块，每块上面刻上一个阳文反手宇，而后用火烧硬。每个字印按用的多寡制备，多的达二十多个，以备同一字印在一个印版中多次重复使用。为便于拣字排版，活宇印按照字的韵目分别放在木格子里。然后是制版，按所印文字的字句段落，将字印放在盛有作为粘合剂的松香、蜡和纸灰的铁板上，四周围上铁框，放到火上加热，使 粘合剂熔化，待粘合剂稍为冷却而仍有可塑性时，用一平板在字面上加压使之平准。当粘合剂完全冷却固结后，即可付印。最后是拆版，印完后，把印版拿到火上烘烤，粘合剂重又熔化，用手拂扫活字，活字便掉下，可再供排版使用。他还
