19、他总是面色苍白。 (as) pale as chalk 是一种明喻修辞结构,虽然英语把苍白比作chalk(白垩,一种白 色石灰岩),但汉语不可直译,相当于我们说的“惨白;苍白”。例如: You look as pale as chalk today. 20、不起作用。 neither.nor. 意为“(否定的陈述适用于两方面)既不., 也不.”,在句中连接两个并列成分做主语,谓语动词考虑就近原则,即与最近的名词的单复数保持一致。例如: Neither the TV nor the video actually works. 电视机和录像机坏了。 Neither the twins nor their mother has been to the island. 那对双胞胎和他们的妈妈都没去过那个岛。 此外, neither.nor.还可以连接两个并列成分做谓语或是表语。例如: I neither knew nor cared what had h
