Charlie Chaplins parents were poor music hall performers who taught him to sing as soon as he could talk and dance as soon as he could walk. When his father died times got harder and he grew up looking after his sick mother and brother.

7、By the time he reached his teens however he had become one of the most popular child performers in England. Later, he began to make films in America and his character, the little homeless tramp with the moustache and walking stick, made people laugh all over the world. The tramp was a failure but loved by audiences because he always looked on the bright side of life and was kind to others even if they were unkind to him.
