23、In 1911, the Mona Lisa was stolen. The case was not solved until the burglar, Perugia tried to sell it two years later. In fact, Perugia stole the painting on behalf of the chief organizer of the crime, Eduardo de Valfierno so that he could get some money from him. But de Valfierno didnt need the pa

24、inting. It was only the news of the burglary that he really needed. After the loss of the Mona Lisa was published in newspaper, de Valfierno sold six copies which he made beforehand, claiming that each one was the authentic painting. Perugia waited for de Valfierno to pay him for two years until one

25、 day he went to a buyer to sell the painting. When the real Mona Lisa turned up, de Valfierno simply told his buyers that it was a copy.
