Some raised doubts about his work. However, Sequoyah didnt stop working. In 1821, Sequoyah completed his alphabet (字母表). Each s

13、ymbol in the alphabet symbolized one of the eightyfive sounds in the Cherokee language. By saying the name of each symbol, a person could read the spoken word.Sequoyah taught the symbols to his sixyearold daughter, Ayoka. One day, they went to visit the elders of the Cherokee Nation. Seqouyah asked

14、Ayoka to leave while he wrote down what the elders said. When Ayoka returned, she read out loud what Sequoyah had written. The elders were stunned.
