、nd so a new form of communication called “talking drums” was born.”(人们发现,在更远的距离内可以听到敲打空心圆木的声音,于是一种新的交流方式“会说话的鼓”诞生了。)和第二段关键句“The drums could be hit with hands and sticks. Some of the larger drums could be heard up to sixteen miles away!”(鼓可以用手和棍子击打。

、可以在16英里外被听到,“The main idea of the passage is that drums can be heard over great distances.” 根据第一段关键句“When we think of a drum we usually think of a musical instrument. The drum has also been used for years as an important tool for communication.

可知,鼓不止是一种乐器,也被用作重要的通讯工具,“Drums are only used as a musical instrument.” 根据第三段关键句“A skin (often an elephant ear) was stretched over one end of the wood and was held in place by a rope. 17、 well that they could actually copy the language that they spoke! The drums sounded like a person speaking in a voice loud enough to be heard far away.”(他们已经学会了如何很好地使用鼓,以至于鼓可以模仿他们所说的语言! 可知,鼓声听起来像是一个人在说话,而并非是鼓真的会说人类的语言了,“Drums made by people in West Africa could speak.”意为

、hant ear) was stretched over one end of the wood and was held in place by a rope.” 故选A项。 根据文章倒数第二段关键句“That is, one village would send a message and a nearby village would hear it. They would then

、repeat the message on their drums, sending it to their neighbors.”(也就是说,一个村庄会发送消息,而附近的村庄会听到。 可知,消息是通过鼓声,从一个村庄到另一个村庄接力传递的,由此可知,倒数第二段中“The message could be sent very far by a relay system.”

逗号前句子的逻辑主语是上文提到的“humans”,用“they”代替,谓语动词为“discovered”,宾语为“that”引导的从句“beating on hollow logs could be heard for greater distances”,逗号后用改为“which”引导的非限制性定语从句,“which”代指“人们发现在更远的距离内可以听到敲打空心圆木的声音”这件事,作从句主语,“gave birth to”代替“was born”,意为“使诞生”,作从句谓语,“a n
